Even though Hong Kong is now part of China, the study visa process for Hong Kong is different from China. Students who wish to get a student visa for Hong Kong will need to apply for admission in Hong Kong. After the admission is confirmed the student will have to pay the fees to the institute and the institute will apply for the study visa for the student. In some cases, the student will not have to pay the fees in advance but instead will have to show proof of funding which includes bank statements. Hence, the student would not have to visit the Chinese Embassy and can travel with the e-visa. However, when the student arrives in Hong Kong, he or she would have to visit the immigration authorities to verify the documents.
Hong Kong follows a very interesting student visa process wherein the institute where you have got admission will apply for your visa with the immigration authorities in Hong Kong. This process eliminates the need to visit the Chinese Embassy or the Chinese Consulate General in your home country.
