UK Study Visa

The UK visa is largely document based and if you follow the suggested document list by the British High Commission, you should have no trouble in getting your student visa. Students applying for a study visa in the UK need to show that they can pay for their entire education, living and maintenance expenses. It is imperative that the funds are readily available in savings accounts and the money should be kept for a minimum period of 30 days. You must include a detailed cover letter about your qualifications, your reasons to study in the UK your finances and your plans after your education. In most cases, an interview is not required and on the basis of your documents and cover letter you will be granted a study visa for the UK.

General Info

Most students who choose to study in the UK apply for a tier 4 (General) visa which is a points-based visa. You need 40 points to get a student visa where 30 points are earned by submitting a valid Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) issued by a licensed institute in the UK and 10 points are earned by showing your financial capability.

How to Apply

Pay the visa application fee and complete the form online.

Carry the following documents to the visa application center:

  1. Current and all old passports and the original visa fee payment receipt
  2. Acceptance letter (CAS)
  3. Evidence of income and proof that funds are immediately available to cover your education in the UK
  4. School and college transcripts and standardized test score sheets
  5. Medical records

The British High Commission will make a decision using the documents you submit. If required you may be called for an interview.
